COMMITMENT TO INTEGRITY

In anticipation of the TBC submission of its Application for Membership to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges (SACSCOC), the Texas Bible College community pledges to adhere to the SACSCOC Principles of Integrity. We also commit, as a faith-based institution, to the following.

  1. Texas Bible College will ensure all documents submitted to SACSCOC are candid and provide all pertinent information, whether complimentary or otherwise. With due regard for the rights of individual privacy, TBC will provide the Commission with access to all parts of its operations, and with complete and accurate information about the institution’s affairs, including reports of other accrediting, licensing, and auditing agencies;
  2. Texas Bible College will respond in a timely manner to requests by SACSCOC for submission of dues, fees, reports, or other information;
  3. Texas Bible College will ensure that information submitted to SACSCOC (such as that provided in the annual institutional profile, institutional responses to visiting committee reports, and monitoring reports) is complete, accurate, and current. An institution is obligated to notify the Commission office of any bankruptcy filing;
  4. TBC will cooperate with the Commission in preparation for visits, receives visiting committees in a spirit of collegiality, and complies with SACSCOC’s requests for acceptable reports and self-analyses;
  5. Texas Bible College will report substantive changes, including the initiation of new programs or sites outside the region, or new sites within the region in accordance with SACSCOC’s policy on substantive change;
  6. TBC will provide counsel and advice to the Commission, and agree to have its faculty and administrators serve, within reason, on visiting teams and on SACSCOC committees; and
  7. TBC will provide SACSCOC or its representatives with information requested and maintain an openness and cooperation during evaluations, enabling evaluators to perform their duties with maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

General
Texas Bible College has had a strong tradition of ethical and open conduct throughout its history. As an institution founded on the principles of God’s Word, the TBC family continues to demonstrate its responsiveness to our community and constituencies by extending to all our knowledge and learning resources. The TBC community nurtures continuing relationships the support our vision and mission and foster common interests and goals. Our vision and mission are fully integrated with every facet of the TBC operations, classrooms, administration, boardrooms, and beyond. Our governing board, administrators, faculty, staff and students are dedicated learners, scholars, ministers, professionals, and practitioners – with each one contributing unique talents and skills to sustain our standards and improve both collectively and individually. Our teaching environment is characterized by impartiality and genuine concern for our faculty, staff and students.

TBC exists to educate and equip servant leaders but not only for positions or titles. TBC molds and shapes its faculty, staff and students into servant leaders for a lifetime of exceptional Apostolic ministry worldwide. It is a College that is community-engaged right where we work and live. It is our responsibility and obligation to advance learning, serendipitous discovery, and extend our positive influence beyond our campus or political borders in the world at large. This statement of integrity must provide an overarching commitment and declaration that establishes specific policies and procedures regarding conduct, enforcement, and accountability. These standards exist in College documents or will be developed as necessary.

Statement
Integrity is essential and critical to the accomplishment of the TBC mission. The TBC family conduct themselves with an honest spirit and a servant’s heart. We adhere to the highest standards of moral and ethical core values and principles through our personal, professional and corporate behavior and actions. The TBC family demonstrates our acknowledgement and understanding of these values and principles and uphold them in every action and decision. And if on occasion we should fall short of this standard, we are committed to taking whatever corrective actions necessary to correct a fault or injustice. We must trust and be trusted – both go hand in hand with how we conduct ourselves as we sustain a TBC culture based on moral, biblical and ethical conduct.

The result must be that our actions are consistent with our words, and words are consistent with our intentions. There cannot be any hidden agendas or secret groups. We accept our responsibilities, share leadership in a democratic spirit, and demand of ourselves the highest standards of public trust. We are always accountable for our words and our actions.

We are a bastion of freedom of expression. To be a College of integrity and excellence, we safeguard academic freedom, open inquiry and debate because to do so is in the best interests of education, enrichment, and our personal and professional development. The TBC family embraces human and intellectual diversity and inclusiveness while respecting and following the tenets of the Word of God. We insist upon the highest standards of fairness, act as responsible citizens, and respect the rights of others, and treat all individuals with dignity.
As a learning community, we insist student learning outcomes not be compromised. Our treatment of all students is equitably, and our evaluations of academic achievements are impartial and based on demonstrated academic performance. As students, we understand learning is the most important goal and we embrace ethical values and principles and reject academic dishonesty in all our endeavors. We assign the highest value upon truth and accuracy. We acknowledge the contributions of others. We place a higher value on expanding and sharing knowledge than on personal recognition or ownership.
We work diligently to demonstrate the strong work ethic that has been a longstanding characteristic of our Texas constituencies. We pledge to be good stewards of our assets – finances, capital, and human resources – and acting only in the best interest of the College. We follow both the letter and spirit of the law through established policies and avoid impropriety or conflict of interest.
As TBC family members, we demonstrate unyielding and uncompromised integrity in support of the College’s highest standards of excellence. As individuals, we all contribute to this TBC standard of integrity as an exemplary model for all Colleges.
